Anzac Day Dawn Service Gallipoli

Gallipoli Dawn Service: Commemorating the Sacrifice and Legacy

Honoring the Fallen at Anzac Cove

Every year, on the 25th of April, the Gallipoli Dawn Service takes place at Anzac Cove on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey. This poignant ceremony commemorates the fateful landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) on Gallipoli in 1915. The battle of Gallipoli was a tragic campaign that resulted in the loss of almost 9,000 Australian lives, with a total of 60,000 British and Empire troops killed throughout the campaign.

Remembering the Anzac Spirit

The Anzac Dawn Service is a time to reflect on the extraordinary sacrifices made by ANZAC troops during World War I. The service is attended by thousands of people, including descendants of those who fought at Gallipoli, as well as Australian and Turkish officials. The service features moving readings, hymns, and prayers, and is a powerful reminder of the comradeship and resilience of the Anzac soldiers.

Emotional Commemoration

The 2024 Anzac Day Dawn Service at Gallipoli was a particularly emotional event. Around 1800 people gathered at Anzac Cove to commemorate the Anzac legend. The service was held under tight security following the recent terrorist attacks in Istanbul. The commemoration was a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy of the Gallipoli campaign and the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by those who served.
